This map viewer was created for Executive Order N-06-19. Parcels shown on the map are the result of a visual review of state properties by staff from the California Department of General Services (DGS). Over 44,000 parcels were reviewed and placed through a screening tool to determine suitability for affordable housing development. The identified parcels are those that have been declared excess by state departments and deemed potentially suitable for housing at this time, based on a first application of screening criteria. Please be aware that the identified parcels are subject to change, and the state expects sites to be added to the map periodically through additional screening and coordination with departments and local agencies. Due to the nature of housing development, there is no guarantee that any particular parcel will be developed by the state.
